Lt. Cmdr. Jeff Grabon

Lt. Cmdr. Jeff Grabon is a native of Connecticut. He earned a B.S. and then an M.S. degree in Meteorology from Penn State University in 2007 and 2009, respectively. In September 2020, he earned a M.S. in Physical Oceanography from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
Lt. Cmdr. Grabon commissioned in 2010 at Officer Candidate School in Newport, R.I. He reported to Fleet Weather Center San Diego in August 2010, and served as a Command Duty Officer. He deployed on the USS Pearl Harbor as the division officer of the Mobile Environmental Team for DESRON 31 during Pacific Partnership 2013.
In September 2013, Lt. Cmdr. Grabon reported to the Naval Oceanographic Office. He earned an International Hydrography Management and Engineering Program Category B Certification, and deployed on the USNS Pathfinder, USNS Bowditch, USNS Henson, and NOAAS Rainer for hydrographic and bathymetric surveys. As the OIC of the Survey Sea Component, he led 20 Sailors who conducted oceanographic, hydrographic, and bathymetric surveys around the globe.
Lt. Cmdr. Grabon was the staff METOC officer for amphibious operations throughout the 7
th Fleet AOR at Amphibious Force 7
th Fleet (CTF-76) and Expeditionary Strike Group SEVEN (ESG-7) from 2016 through 2018. He deployed for four patrols on the USS Bonhomme Richard, and served as a Battle Watch Captain (BWC) and Force Tactical Action Officer (FTAO).
From 2020 through 2023, Lt. Cmdr. Grabon was the Fleet Oceanographer and Deputy Current Operations Director for 4
th Fleet / U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command. Additionally, he served as a BWC, Mayport Sortie Working Group Coordinator, and the U.S. lead METOC planner for exercise UNITAS.
