Capt. Meredith Schley, a native of Ohio, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Microbiology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a Master of Science in Leadership with a focus on Crisis Management and Disaster Preparedness from Grand Canyon University.
Schley commissioned as an ensign in the surface warfare officer community in 2002 and laterally transferred into the cryptologic warfare community in 2006.
Her operational assignments include USS O’Brien (DD 975) as the fire control officer; Afloat Planning System Pacific on Camp Smith, Hawaii as the detachment officer in charge deployed aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 65); Joint Crew Composite Squadron (JCCS) 1, where she served 10 months in Iraq as an electronic warfare officer for 1
st Squadron, 40
th Cavalry Regiment on Camp Falcon; U.S. 7
th Fleet aboard USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19), serving as the fleet signals intelligence warfare officer participating in Operation Tomodachi; Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Hawaii as detachment officer in charge assigned to the Direct Support Australia in Canberra, Australia, embedded within the Australian Signals Directorate Support to Military Operations Staff.
Her shore assignments include NIOC Hawaii, serving as a division officer; U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command / U.S. 4
th Fleet as the force cryptologist /cryptologic resource coordinator; U.S. Cyber Command deputy J2T / Asia Pacific branch chief, where she directed/coordinated joint target efforts in support of U.S. Cyber Command; Carrier Strike Group TWO as the assistant chief of staff for information operations and the information warfare commander; NIOC Texas executive officer and Combined Task Force 1040 deputy commander and Information Warfare Training Command Corry Station commanding officer. In April 2023, she assumed duties as Commander, Naval Information Warfare Training Group which is responsible for three subordinate commands, two detachments and two reserve commands.
Schley’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other unit and campaign awards.
