Cmdr. Adam J. “A.J.” Keech currently serves as the Executive Officer at Naval Information Warfare Training Group, San Diego.
A native of California, Cmdr. Keech enlisted in the Navy in 1999 as a Radioman before converting to Information Systems Technician. He transitioned to the IRR in 2003 before returning to the Navy after receiving a commission in the Navy Reserve as an intelligence officer in 2008. He returned to active duty in 2014.
Operational assignments include Microcomputer Assistance Support Team technician aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) completing two WESTPACs, outstation J2 in support of SEAL Teams SEVEN and ONE as part of a Special Operations Task Force in Tikrit, Iraq, and N2 for Commander, Destroyer Squadron TWENTY-ONE, completing a WESTPAC aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74).
Shore assignments include Russia Ground Forces Team Lead at EUCOM JAC (Molesworth, UK), Assistant Senior Intelligence Watch Officer at Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central / Commander, U.S. FIFTH Fleet (Bahrain), Intelligence / Cryptology Syndicate Lead at Tactical Training Group, Pacific (San Diego, Calif.), and Senior Watch Officer / Operations Officer for Director of Operations, and China Air and Air Defense Team Lead at USINDOPACOM JIOC (Pearl Harbor, Hawaii).
Cmdr. Keech holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Western Michigan University, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College.
He is authorized to wear the Global War on Terrorism-Expeditionary medal, the Sea Service Deployment ribbon with two bronze stars, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” device, the Navy Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, and numerous personal awards.
