Mr. Michael Cavaggioni is a native of Long Island, New York.  He has a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management from the University of Arizona.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July 2002.  He was later commissioned as an officer in February 2012 and retired from the U.S. Navy in November 2022.  Mr. Cavaggioni joined the federal service on 14 August 2023.
 
Mr. Cavaggioni’s operational and staff assignments include the USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), Naval Recruiting District Richmond / Navy Recruiting Station Charlottesville, USS Gonzalez (DDG 66), USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), Naval Special Warfare Group TEN (NSWG-10), Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Iraq (CJSOTF-I), Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMPACFLT), and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY&IMF), NIOC Pacific.
 
On board Kearsarge, he served as the Supply Yeoman, Operations Yeoman, Legal Yeoman, Master at Arms, and Ship Self Defense Force Team Leader.  On board Gonzalez, he served as the Administrative Leading Petty Officer, Command Security Manager, Detainee Handling Team Leader, and Security Reaction Force Team Leader.  He completed the Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education at Joint Forces Staff College and qualified as Anti-Terrorism Watch Officer.  On board Theodore Roosevelt, he served as the Personnel Officer, Ship Secretary, and Educational Services Officer.  He qualified as Small Boat Officer, Combat Direction Center Officer, Officer of the Deck (Underway), and Surface Warfare Officer.
 
At NSWG-10 Mr. Cavaggioni served as the Administrative Director, completed the Expeditionary Combat Skills course, and qualified as Naval Special Warfare-Fleet Experienced / Department Head.  While assigned to NSWG-10 he deployed to Iraq as the CJSOTF-I Joint Administrative Director and U.S. State Department Liaison Officer and earned the Joint Task Force-Human Resources qualification.  At COMPACFLT, Mr. Cavaggioni served as the Staff Executive Officer and Assistant Flag Secretary.  Additionally, he served as the U.S. Pacific Fleet COVID-19 Crisis Action Team Deputy Commander.  His final active duty assignment was PHNSY&IMF where he served as the Military Personnel Officer.  Mr. Cavaggioni’s first assignment in the federal service was Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Pacific as the Administrative Director.
 
Mr. Cavaggioni currently serves as the Executive Director at NIOC Pacific.
 
His military awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), Combat Action Ribbon, and various campaign, service, and unit awards.
