About Us

Subordinate to Naval Information Warfare Training Group (NIWTG) San Diego, our first Sailor arrived in May 2022 beginning the process of standing up the Detachment.  In June 2023, the qualification training pipeline began in San Diego as the initial mission assessors began to arrive at the command.  In summer 2024, NIWTD Japan had our official ribbon cutting establishing ourselves as the only Forward Deployed Naval Forces (FDNF) Information Warfare (IW) Basic Phase training command located at Command Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY) Naval Base.

Naval Information Warfare Training Detachment (NIWTD) Japan advances Information Warfare (IW) readiness by executing operationally-focused IW training and assessment, deploying Information Operations (IO) Warfighters in direct support to Carrier and Amphibious Strike Groups, and enabling naval afloat, ashore, and airborne IW forces across the Pacific theater.
