Welcome to your new assignment! Specific information is provided below for the various locations of your assignment. 

Congratulations on your orders to Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific Detachment (NCTAMS Pac Det) Puget Sound! Our Detachment provides computer network operations, base communications, electronic key management system services and strategic communications to afloat, air, and shore based U.S. and allied forces operating throughout the Pacific Northwest area of responsibility.

Our detachment headquarters is a tenant command aboard Naval Base Kitsap, Bangor, and we operate communications offices and equipment for US Navy submarines, surface forces, and air forces from most of the Navy’s Northwest Washington State installations. Notably, our two largest departments are located in Arlington and Whidbey Island, and both provide 24-hour service to our Navy operators.

HOUSING AND TEMPORARY LODGING
Single enlisted personnel E-1 through E-4 are required to reside in the Combined Bachelors Housing (CBH). Bachelor Housing Permanent Party Personnel and Transient Guests check-in at Navy Gateway Inns & Suites front desk, located at:

Bachelor Housing (Duty Manager) after hours emergency number is (360) 340-2297.

Personnel transferring with families should contact the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) as the one-stop-shop housing information center. The FFSC is the initial step for applying for military housing for Naval Base Kitsap, (provided by Forest City) and will be your initial source of housing information for the Pacific North West.

Temporary lodging is available on base for families. Families with children should consider the Navy Lodge Bangor, telephone: 1-800-628-9466 or 360-779-9100. The Navy Lodge provides kitchens, rollaway beds, and cribs.

Families without children could consider the Navy Gateway Inns & Suits, telephone: 1-877-628-9233 or (360) 396-6629. Kitchens, rollaway beds, and cribs are not available, all room have one queen sized bed.


TRANSPORTATION TO NCTAMSPAC DET PUGET SOUND

Air Travel from SEATAC Airport

If you are flying into SEATAC International Airport, please plan ahead for your travel from the airport to Naval Base Kitsap. If coordinated with your sponsor beforehand, your sponsor will gladly meet you at the airport and assist you with the rest of your travel to NCTAMSPAC Det Puget Sound. If mission tempo or by personal choice you choose to take care of your transportation needs to Naval Base Kitsap yourself, there are many different options available. The most popular and reliable transportation is the Kitsap Airporter. If you do take any commercial transportation from the airport, keep all receipts as these expenses are reimbursed by PSD.

TSCOMM DEPT Whidbey Island is located on Whidbey Island near the town of Oak Harbor, Washington. TSCOMM DEPT Whidbey Island is comprised of a myraid of complex communications systems to provide Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing Ten (CPRW-10) and designated Patrol Squadrons with tactical and strategic communications support throughout the Northwestern United States and in the Eastern Pacific Region.

Jim Creek Naval Radio Station has had a strong and proud history in the field of Naval radio frequency. Established in the the 1950's Jim Creek was the best transmitting system in the world and still remains state-of-the-art and a leader in low frequency transmissions.

This highly technical station is primarily operated by civilian personnel. If you are one of the few Sailors assigned to department, please contact NCTAMS PAC Det Puget Sound's main office in Bangor and you will receive all of the assistance that you need for your up-coming transfer.
