Lt. Cmdr. Aaron M. Morrone

Lt. Cmdr. Aaron M. Morrone, a native of Nashua, New Hampshire, enlisted in the Navy through the Delayed Entry Program in 2001. After completion of boot camp and ABF “A” school, he received orders to the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) and completed a 2002-2003 deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as a member of the “grape” crew. After deployment, he received an appointment to the United States Naval Academy through the Seaman to Admiral program (STA-21). He earned his bachelor’s degree in oceanography from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2007 with a Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) option. He holds a master’s degree in meteorology and physical oceanography from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, and a Lean Six Sigma certification from the University of Villanova.

Upon commissioning, he served as weapons officer onboard USS Pear Harbor (LSD 52) and completed two deployments; Partnership of the Americas (2007) and Global War on Terrorism (2008). He then laterally transferred to the METOC community and accepted orders to the Naval Oceanography ASW Center (NOAC) at the METOC headquarters located in Stennis Space Center, Mississippi, and eventually served as the operations officer. As an ASW team lead, he completed deployments onboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), USS George Washington (CVN 73), and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). After NOAC, he received orders and served as the METOC officer for Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG). Lt. Cmdr. Morrone served as the METOC officer for Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 12 where he completed an around the world deployment on USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72); the longest post-Cold War carrier deployment of 295 days.

He assumed duties as NCTS Guam executive officer in April 2020.

Personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various meritorious, service, and campaign awards.
