ABOUT OMBUDSMAN PROGRAM
Ombudsmen are volunteers appointed by the commanding officer to serve the command and its families, and every command has at least one. The ombudsman serves as a point of contact for information and referral for service members and their loved ones, including spouses, children, parents, siblings, relatives and friends. They can assist Navy families by directing them to resources that help to cope with the difficulties of a military lifestyle. They also pass along information and announcements from the command to their command's families and can voice concerns or comments from Navy family members to the command leadership. Ombudsmen also serve as a point of contact for their command's family members during emergencies.
