Cmdr. Michael K. Meador

Cmdr. Michael Meador is a native of Wheaton, IL. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in History in 2003 and commissioned into the Surface Warfare Officer community. Cmdr. Meador received a Master’s in Cybersecurity from the University of Maryland and JPME Phase I from the Air Command and Staff College. He holds a Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification.
He qualified Surface Warfare Officer while in USS Cowpens (CG-63) from 2003-05, as a part of Forward Deployed Naval Forces in Japan. His second afloat tour was in USS Chung-Hoon (DDG-93) from 2005-07, where he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom - Philippines, before volunteering for an Individual Augmentation in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While in Baghdad from 2006-07, he served as Battalion Electronic Warfare and Counter-Improvised Explosive Device Officer. From 2007-10 CDR Meador served on the staff of OPNAV N2N6 as the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) and UHF Follow-On Requirements Officer before laterally transferring into the Cryptologic Warfare Officer community.
As a Cryptologic Warfare Officer, he served at Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Maryland from 2010 to 2013. In 2013, he deployed to a combat zone as OIC of a joint and coalition team. Cmdr. Meador screened for Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Tactical Information Operations (TIO) and served as the NSW Group FOUR TIO Officer/Deputy N2 from 2013-16, where he supported and deployed for worldwide operations. From 2016-18, he served as the FIFTH Fleet Cryptologic Resource Coordinator and Deputy Chief of Collections, supporting named and contingency operations, including strikes against Syria and in Yemen. From 2018-20 Cmdr. Meador was Commander, Task Group THREE for Task Force Pacific (TF-P) and Director, N9A at NIOC Hawaii, deploying Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) forces throughout the USINDOPACOM Area of Responsibility. From 2020-21, he led the DCO and DODIN Cells for TF-P/USINDOPACOM Cyber Operations Integrated Planning Element (CO-IPE).
Cmdr. Meador is currently Deputy Commander CTF-1070 and Executive Officer for NIOC Hawaii.
His personal decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, and other personal, service, unit, and campaign awards.
