We are available to answer any immediate questions you may have and will also provide you with your sponsor's contact information. Sponsors are carefully assigned to make your transition as seamless as possible. Your sponsor will provide you with information about your new duty station and living in Sicily. Your sponsor will meet you at the airport upon your arrival, provide transportation, base familiarization tours, and will be available to help you throughout the check-in process. In order for your sponsor to provide the assistance required, be sure to provide your flight information as soon as possible. Keep in contact with your sponsor regularly and notify him/her of any changes to your itinerary.

You will soon become an integral member of our team. We are eager to assist you in attaining your professional and personal goals. Your development and success as a naval professional are of the utmost importance to us. Again, welcome aboard shipmate! We look forward to meeting you.

Important Information

Upon receipt of orders, please complete the latest version of DoD Cyber Awareness Challenge located on MyNavy Portal and scan/email your completed certificate to your sponsor as soon as possible

All unaccompanied E-4 and below personnel are directed to reside in bachelor enlisted quarters.

If you are on accompanied orders and are travelling with your family, please be sure to inform your sponsor to ensure proper preparations are made prior to your arrival (i.e, childcare and temporary lodging for you and your family). Also, all personnel arriving, not holding an active duty identification card are required to obtain a Sojourners Permit. This process requires four passport sized photos for each family member. As there are limited photo facilities here, it would be easier and less time consuming if you arrive with these photos ready to go.

On another note, I recommend that all personnel of driving age familiarize themselves with a standard (stick shift) transmission vehicle as there are not many automatic vehicles available. Driving in Sicily can prove to be a bit different than driving in the U.S and may be stressful to some. That being said, it may prove easier for you and or your dependents to learn in a known environment.

Finally, it is recommended that everyone coming to NCTS Sicily obtain a tourist passport. This will make travel throughout Europe much easier.

If you have any questions regarding the below housing referral program, please call the Sigonella housing office at DSN 314-624-4311.

Homes.mil is a web-based program that will help military service members, Department of Defense (DoD) civilian employees and their families search for off-base homes. This  website enables personnel executing Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders to search for available economy housing in their current or next duty station. At any given time as long as internet connectivity is available, customers will be able to search and view property information in any duty stations operated by the U.S. Navy, Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps.  Location, amenities, number of bedrooms, type of home and monthly rent are some criteria's that can be used to refine your search.

The site also enables HSC Sigonella staff, landlords, and property managers to find and share vital information about non-discriminatory rental listing.

  • In CONUS, the website provides a free online forum for landlords, owners and property managers to add and manage their property listings.

  • For OCONUS overseas installations, Homes.mil sites and information are managed via the respective HSCs.

  • Homes.mil is a DoD controlled website that provides limited information to the public. Only registered users can obtain listing addresses and landlord contact information, and all user data is stored in accordance with DoD information assurance requirements.

  • Homes.mil provides mailing address, DSN, commercial phone numbers, and the ability to contact HSCs via email.

The responsibility for the transportation of pets to and from Naval Air Station (NAS) Sigonella rests solely on the service member. It is highly recommended that you have sufficient funds on hand if your travel is delayed or changed. Delays of travel, including temporary lodging allowance (TLA) extensions due to pets are not reimbursable.
