Master Chief Bass enlisted in July 2000 after graduating from Martin Luther King Jr. High School.  Upon completion of Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill., he attended CTI "A" school in Monterey, Calif.
 
CTI3 Bass, upon completion of Aircrew and SERE schools, was assigned to NSGA Rota Spain.  During this tour, he advanced to Petty Officer Second Class earning his Naval Aviation Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist qualifications. 
 
In December 2005, he transferred to CIDD Monterey for Modern Standard Arabic Intermediate and upon graduation was assigned to NSGA Bahrain.  While assigned to Bahrain, CTI1 Bass served as an Airborne Mission Supervisor during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, earning three additional three Air Medals.  In March 2008, CTI1 Bass transferred back to CIDD Monterey as a Military Language Instructor.  During this tour, he served as the Leading Chief Petty Officer of Middle East School One, provided over 1,000 hours of language instruction, earning his Master Training Specialist Qualification, and was selected for Chief Petty Officer. 
 
In December 2012, Chief Bass transferred to Special Projects Kaneohe Bay.  During this tour, he was selected and advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer, serving as a Department Leading Chief Petty Officer, an Airborne Telemetry Manager, and qualified as an Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist.  After this tour in Hawaii, he was selected for his orders to NIOC Maryland in July 2015, serving as a Department Chief in the Analysis and Production Directorate, CT Levant Senior Enlisted Leader in the Directorate of Operations where he was selected for Master Chief Petty Officer.  Then, he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader to the Deputy Chief of the Central Security Service at the National Security Agency and to the National Security Operations Center (NSOC).
 
Master Chief Bass has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Air Medal (seven awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Navy Achievement Medal (three awards).  He has an Associates of Arts degree in MSA from DLIFLC Presidio of Monterey and graduated from the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy. 
 
Master Chief Bass was selected as NIOD Korea Senior Enlisted Leader in November 2020.
